Terms of use

These terms explain the agreement between you and Hako Systems, Inc. when you use CheckCheckRide or this website.

Effective July 23, 2026

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Hako Systems, Inc. (“Hako,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the CheckCheckRide iPhone application, related Screen Time extensions, this website, and associated support materials (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use CheckCheckRide for someone else, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. What CheckCheckRide does—and does not do

CheckCheckRide is a reminder tool intended to help you remember to compare ride-app prices before booking. With your permission, it uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls features to place a shield over ride apps you select, temporarily remove that shield when you request an unlock, and restore it after the unlock period.

CheckCheckRide is not a rideshare provider, marketplace, booking service, price feed, or travel service. It does not request rides, display live fares, guarantee availability, choose a provider, or complete a booking.

You remain responsible for opening third-party apps, reviewing their current price and terms, making booking decisions, and traveling safely.

3. Limited license and acceptable use

Subject to these Terms and applicable App Store rules, Hako grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CheckCheckRide on Apple devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

  • copy, distribute, sell, sublicense, rent, or commercially exploit the Service except where applicable law expressly permits;
  • reverse engineer, bypass, disable, or interfere with the Service’s security or technical restrictions except where such a restriction is prohibited by law;
  • use the Service unlawfully, to harm another person, or to interfere with Apple or a third-party service;
  • misrepresent your relationship with Hako or use Hako’s branding without permission; or
  • attempt to use CheckCheckRide as an emergency, safety-critical, dispatch, or guaranteed transportation service.

4. Illustrative estimates and research

CheckCheckRide may use answers you provide to display a rough, illustrative spending or comparison-opportunity scenario. The current model applies a research-derived factor to a self-reported scenario. It does not inspect your actual fares, observe prices you did not choose, reconstruct past alternatives, or calculate guaranteed savings.

Research results may not reflect your city, trip type, account, discounts, availability, timing, accessibility needs, or other circumstances. Any scenario is informational only and is not financial advice. Your actual results may differ, including because comparing may produce no savings on a particular trip.

5. Apple and third-party services

CheckCheckRide depends on Apple platform features and works alongside independent ride-provider apps. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Hako does not control and is not responsible for their prices, availability, safety, accessibility, content, bookings, account actions, outages, or changes.

CheckCheckRide is an independent product. It is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Uber, Lyft, Apple, or any other transportation provider. Third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify compatible services or explain the comparison use case.

6. Screen Time permissions and device behavior

You control whether to grant Screen Time access and which apps to select. You can edit your selection, lock apps again, erase local CheckCheckRide data, revoke access in Apple’s settings, or uninstall CheckCheckRide. Operating-system updates, permission changes, device settings, or Apple service limitations may prevent shields or unlock timers from behaving as expected. Do not rely on CheckCheckRide as an access-control, parental-control, security, or safety system.

7. Ownership

Hako and its licensors own the Service, including its software, visual design, text, and branding, except for third-party materials. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights. Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used by Hako without restriction or compensation, provided we handle personal information consistently with our Privacy Policy.

8. Updates, availability, and termination

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service. Features may change to remain compatible with Apple’s platforms or App Store requirements. We may terminate your license if you materially violate these Terms. You may stop using CheckCheckRide at any time by deleting it.

9. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” HAKO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAKO AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST SAVINGS, PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, TRANSPORTATION, OR OPPORTUNITIES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAKO’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID HAKO FOR CHECKCHECKRIDE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$25. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Apple App Store terms

If you download CheckCheckRide through Apple’s App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Hako, not Apple; Hako, not Apple, is responsible for CheckCheckRide and its support, subject to applicable law. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the App Store-related provisions against you. Your use must also comply with applicable Apple Media Services terms and usage rules.

12. Governing law and changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable United States law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement regarding the Service unless we separately agree in writing.

We may update these Terms. We will post revised Terms here with a new effective date. Your continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
